  1. Henna is Healthy. It is Antifungal, Antibacterial, Anticancer, Astringent, Sun Block/Sunscreen, Cools the body, Skin rejuvenator (wounds, skin disease, insect bites, hair growth)
  2. Henna is Sexy. It's an Aphrodisiac and it's mentioned in the Kuma Sutra twice. According to Havelock Ellis, “henna flowers (lawsonia inermis) have an undertone which mimics human sperm,” which is why henna has a more powerful sexual effect on women than on men.

3. Henna can be confused as Cannabis.
  • Tests created in the 70’s couldn’t distinguish between cannabis and henna. Henna is the only other botanical that caused the false positive. Tests are more sophisticated now.

4. Henna originated in Africa.
Henna or Hennu (the Ancient Egyptian word for Henna) originated in Egypt. It’s an arid desert shrub. Through the DNA and scientific study of 11th dynasty mummies such as Hierakonpolis and Ramses II, researchers found that Egyptians have been using henna since 3400 BCE (6, 000 years ago). Formulas for extracting henna oil etc have been found on papyrus. Egyptians used henna as an essential oil for healing and perfume, preservative in mummy wrappings, hair dye, sun block, coolant for the body, and body art.

5. Henna is Biblical.
​Henna is mentioned in the Bible 15 times, King Solomon, Book of Canticles, Henna is one of 3 flowers mentioned in the Bible.

6. Henna is rebellious.
The Catholic Church forbade the use of henna in Spain on penalty of death in the 16th century as part of the expulsion of Muslims, Jews, & their culture. As a result, European women started wearing lace gloves that mimicked henna.

7. Henna was for Royals.
​According to Theophrastus (c.285 BCE), a botanist, the perfume of henna was sold at 400+ denarii a pound. Compared to the 1 denarii a day which was a normal man’s working wages. Today that would be the equivalent of $20,000 a pound.
